To overcome the size limitations of 128mb sticks, Sony introduced Memory Stick Select. The select feature provided for doubled capacity by partitioning the stick in a similar fashion that 5.25" floppy utilized both sides of the disk.

Owing to its unpopularity, Sony dropped this line. However, Lexar still produces it for users with older memory sticks devices that need higher capacity. A manual switch function allows the user to select the desired partition of the device.
